# Modules

The Modules screen lists the modules an organization can switch on or off for everyone, says why one cannot be switched on, and what switching one off keeps.

The Modules screen is where an organization switches a module on or off for everyone in it. It is in **Settings > Organization > Modules**, a row of its own beside General. Switching a module is configuration, not billing, so it needs the settings permission, not the billing permission.

The screen says: "Switch a module off for everyone; its records stay and come back when it is switched on."

A module is a part of SalexHub an organization switches on or off. It is not a product in your catalog, and it is not an add-on to the plan.

## What it lists

Two modules, each in a row with its name, an **On** or **Off** badge and a line under the name.

| Module | The line under its name |
| --- | --- |
| **Sales** | Pipeline, deals and forecasting |
| **Marketing** | Campaigns, segments and attribution |

Marketing is the Marketing hub. For a module that is off and cannot be switched on, the line under the name is the reason, in place of the tagline.

## Switch a module on

Choose **Switch on** in the module's row. The screen shows "Switched on" when it is done.

A module switches on only where the [plan](https://salexhub.com/docs/billing/plans) includes what its writes need. Sales has no such requirement. Marketing needs forms and web analytics, so a plan without them cannot switch it on. The row then shows why, and **Switch on** is disabled. The reason names the feature and the plan that includes it: "{Feature} is part of the {Plan} plan, which this organization does not have. Change the plan in Settings > Billing." The plans and what each includes are on the [pricing page](https://salexhub.com/pricing).

If the plan could not be read at that moment, the reason says so and names no plan: "This organization's plan could not be read just now, so nothing it includes can be opened. Try again in a few minutes."

## Switch a module off

Choose **Switch off**. A confirmation, **Switch off Marketing** for example, says: "Marketing disappears from navigation for everyone in this organization. Its records are kept and come back when you switch it on." Confirm with **Switch off**. The screen shows "Switched off".

Switching off is always open. The plan is not asked.

## Who can do it

- **People with the settings permission.** Owners and Admins hold it, and an admin can grant it to a role in **Settings > Roles**. A Billing Admin does not switch modules. Anyone else sees "Modules are managed by admins" in place of the list.
- **Never the Agent, a workflow or an API key.** Switching a module is a person's act. Anything else that asks is refused, and the refusal says a person does this in the app.
- **Every switch is recorded.** It is filed in the audit log under **Security**. See [Audit log](https://salexhub.com/docs/control/audit-log).

A refused switch shows **Update failed**, the reason, and a code and reference to quote to support.
